We spotted this spectacular set of steps in the Uniqlo store on 5th Avenue. Possibly the brightest steps in the whole of New York City? Certainly bright enough to draw us in off the street to take a closer look…
Proof that the simplest of strips can complete any room. We have seen a few of these corded bannisters, this is one of our favourites: the simple delicate uniform lines balance this stairway perfectly. We still prefer the strips to be on the stairs.
Elegantly weaving from edge to edge, balanced and subtly coloured using only black and white. Perfect.
While we at Roger Oates have a bit of a soft spot for this particular colour combination, should you decided on a cord strung bannister you can re-thread it as often as you like. We re-thread our looms almost every week – and can happily offer you some advice on the matter…
Who says under-stair storage can’t be beautiful?
We like people that share our belief that colour improves things. Dihzahyners are group of artists and designers working to make Beirut ‘more beautiful through colour’ these steps included.
While we absolutely do not endorse ‘borrowing’ thousands of paperclips from the office to adorn your stairs, we do admire the time and attention to detail that must have gone into in creating this unique runner. We’re still for wool.
Must have made the nice list. Chatham Mallow
